01 — Quick Reference
Item status
| Status | Meaning | Found by the item search? |
|---|---|---|
| active | normal use | yes |
| restricted | usable with an extra check (e.g. engineering approval) | yes |
| superseded | replaced — see superseded by and the substitutes | only with include inactive |
| obsolete / inactive | no longer used | only with include inactive |
Every status change is recorded in Status History, and a change to superseded is announced to the network.
Identifiers
An item code may be corrected — the item's network id never changes, and every application
showing the code is updated automatically (catalogue.item_reference_changed). To replace an
item with a different one, create the new item and mark the old one superseded. Other numbers (manufacturer part number, OEM, legacy, barcode)
go in Identifiers; the item search and resolve identifier find an item by any of them.
Substitutes and fitment
- Substitution: direct (use freely), conditional (conditions apply, may need approval), superseded_by, temporary. Only active substitutions are offered.
- Applicability: for an asset type / model / position the most specific active rule wins; prohibited overrides at the same level; no rule means unknown.
